Anyone else? Since updating to High Sierra I noticed my laptop feeling warm when I'd pick it up first thing in the morning. I close it at night and snatch it to take to the kitchen table to "read the morning paper". Since the update I had noticed it was warm first thing. I would just scratch my head and promptly forget about it until I'd pick it up the next morning.

I finally thought to check Console and I am seeing gobs of lines similar to the below. They appear all through the night and day. If I quit DT they of course do not show and the laptop is cool all night. I do use it all day during the day into the evening.

Or is this normal behavior always seen but never noticed. (Though the laptop being warm in the morning is new to HighSierra.)

What happens if you switch the "Update icon counts" option in the Advanced section of the Preferences to "Never" - does that help? I can't see that this would stop the machine sleeping though…

Sorry about not replying sooner. I wanted to try some things. Also, more times than not I would not think to notice the warmth of the laptop first thing in the morning. I now conclude that I am mystified.

I positively swear that when I first messed with this quitting DT resulted in the laptop being perfectly cool to the touch.

Changing the update icon counts setting did remove those lines from the system.log but had no change otherwise. I am getting a bunch of lines about the Touch Bar server that I don't recall being there but who knows.

Thanks for the input.

Best!

No problem! And hmm, well I am equally mystified I'm afraid!
