Since I updated to High Sierra, the Activity Monitor is showing Dragthing consuming 5% or 6% CPU, even when the machine is idle. This has little impact on system performance, but I’m sure it didn’t happen before.

They may have changed how they calculate the figure, but in any case it shouldn't cause any significantly measurable impact. If and when I do a rewrite, it will be better!

I'm seeing the same thing after I upgraded to 10.13.2 last weekend. About 10% CPU load on a 2011 iMac i7. DragThing is usually at or near the top in the Activity Monitor CPU tab. I would request a fix, if nothing else due to all the wasted energy.

Unfortunately, there are no easy fixes, aside from a rewrite.
